Understanding your own body can sometimes feel intimidating, particularly if you’ve had a recent change such as irregular bleeding or discomfort. Our endometrial thickness scan will assess your endometrial lining and provide you with the peace of mind that only a qualified sonographer can.

As part of your appointment with us, you’ll receive:

Comprehensive health scan: We typically carry out endometrial health assessments transvaginally, where our ultrasound equipment is inserted in the vagina. However, we can also conduct this scan transabdominally if this is preferred. Both approaches will allow us to map out your endometrial thickness and provide you with a detailed report that you can take away.
Friendly, reliable consultation: Your appointment gives you the opportunity to voice any concerns or ask any questions that you have about your endometrial health. Our sonographer team has decades of NHS experience, and can provide reliable information and guidance whether you’re looking to conceive or are concerned about a recent symptom.

Such a lovely, calm atmosphere, staff lovely and friendly. Felt very welcomed. Emma was honestly so lovely and amazing, so reassuring during this scan at our 19 weeks of pregnancy, after a few concerns over the weekend that were clarified medically in other ways, but not visually. Emma was extremely patient and listened to every single worry I had about this pregnancy due to past experiences. I was reassured lots and Emma made sure she communicated through every step she was doing.

Our appointments never felt rushed and to have someone so professional yet so connected to her clients needs and worries is an experience I never thought I’d be able to get.

Why is measuring endometrial thickness important?

Endometrial thickness can influence fertility and implantation success. Measuring it helps determine if the uterine lining is optimal for conception or embryo transfer during fertility treatments.

If you’re concerned about your endometrial health, an assessment can also help to give you a baseline from which you can track any changes.

When is the best time for an endometrial thickness scan?

The scan is usually performed around ovulation, when the lining reaches its thickest and most receptive state. Our qualified sonographers or your fertility team will advise the exact timing for the best results. If you’re unsure, please give us a call and we’d be happy to guide you on this.

Can endometrial thickness affect my chances of getting pregnant?

Yes. A lining that is too thin or too thick may reduce implantation chances. Monitoring it allows your fertility team to adjust treatments or timings to improve the likelihood of pregnancy.

Do I need a medical referral to book an endometrial thickness scan?

No, you can book your scan directly with our trained sonographers without the need for a medical referral from the NHS or another healthcare provider. This can provide a useful grounding that you can then take to follow-up appointments with your GP, if further advice is required.
